Jessika Smith

Jessika Smith is a saxophonist, composer and educator currently residing in Portland, Oregon. Jessika received her Masters in Music in Jazz Composition from the University of Oregon under the tutelage of Steve Owen. She is the director of the Jessika Smith Big Band and performs regularly in Oregon and Washington. Jessika’s debut album, Tricks of Light, features “Cyan Thread”, which won the 2015 National Band Association Young Composer’s Competition and “Lights” which won the 2013 Seattle Women’s Jazz Orchestra’s Jazz Composition Contest.
