Jhoely Garay

Jhoely Garay is a guitarist, composer, and arranger from Mexico City based in New York City. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in jazz guitar performance at The City College of New York and is currently studying for her Master's degree in jazz composition at the Manhattan School of Music. Garay has studied and collaborated with iconic artists such as Dee Dee Bridgewater, Steve Wilson, Darcy James Argue, Jim McNeely, Mike Holober, Ted Nash, and Scott Reeves, among others.

Garay is a Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation Ambassador, a Stanford Jazz Mentor Fellow, an ASCAP Fran Morgenstern 2022 awardee, a grantee of the “Young Creators” program by the National Fund for Culture and the Arts in Mexico, a grantee of the New York City Artist Corps, and a Portland Jazz Composers Ensemble Prize winner.
