Skylar Tang
Composer | Trumpeter
Skylar Tang is a sixteen-year-old musician and composer. She was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area where she attends Crystal Springs Uplands School. As a junior, she has emerged as one of the nation’s top high school jazz trumpet players, performing in the Monterey Jazz Festival’s Next Generation programs, the Vail Jazz Workshop, NYO Jazz, and becoming a YoungArts Finalist. She is also an award-winning composer, having been selected for Jazz Education Network’s Young Composer Showcase and having won the Jazz at Lincoln Center Essentially Ellington Big Band Composing and Arranging Contest with her piece “Kaleidoscope.”
