Danza del Alma

$65.00

Jessika Smith's "Danza del Alma" ignites any set list with passionate energy. The piece is the result of her many years playing in a Latin band, riffing montunos on the saxophone, and dancing, dancing, dancing! The slower, reflective salsa tempo at the beginning of the piece offers solo space in trombone and piano, and the faster tempo later on includes a fantastic trumpet feature and additional space for trombone once again.

Auxiliary percussion can be added or omitted, and the clarinet parts can easily be played instead on tenor sax. Educators, this is a great opportunity to explore clave, tumbao, and cascara rhythms with your students. And as always, it doesn't hurt to learn a little salsa dancing too!

Included: PDF digital download of full transposed score, all parts, and reference mp3

  • Level: Professional

  • 5 saxes (clarinet double in tenor 1)/4 trumpets/4 trombones/guitar, piano, bass, drums

  • Solo sections in: trombone 2, piano, trumpet 2

  • Option for auxiliary percussion

  • Highest note in lead trumpet = Concert E6 (written high F#)

  • Highest note in lead trombone = Concert C5
