When The Streetlamps Light
While composing "When The Street Lamps Light," Ariel Sha Glassman was inspired by the rap music that had been coming out of Chicago in the late 2010’s. Artists such as Chance the Rapper, Saba, Smino, J.I.D. give this piece its stylistic inspiration.
When The Street Lamps Light grooves hard! And never stops grooving throughout the duration of the piece. A lyrical melody gracefully unfolds, layered with masterful counterpoint and wild percussive interjections that keep both performers and listeners on their toes. Featuring three distinct solo sections and a suspenseful ending, Glassman has fashioned a composition approachable to listeners yet rich in artistic expression.
